Day 16 - Television

Now we are TV stars we have subcontracted the writing of this blog to our PR team and will be providing it as a pay per view service, but more of that later.

The morning kicked off pretty much with 'the same procedure as last time' but we were all very aware that the TV crew from ARTE could arrive at any minute. Some preening could be seen in the workshop and I think Frank was wearing make-up . .

I decided to break through the final routing and scratchplate barriers and got stuck in. I started here . . .

Did some measurements and placings of the bits and bobs . . .

Then set to on a serious and final routing . . .

And ended up with this . . .

Beauty ! Startng to live up to it's name . .

Eric, meanwhile, was having trouble with his 'nut'. For the uninitiated this is the little piece of bone that sits at the top of the fretboard before the headstock, making the final ridge that the strings go over before hitting the machine heads. Just selecting the right bone can be tricky . . .

Obviously 'nut' and 'bone' gave rise to some schoolboy humour across the workshop. Apparently, it's even funnier in German. Eric fitted his nut then spent a long time rubbing it to get the correct and precisely off-centre profile . . .

And it seemed to work . .

With still no TV crew in sight, we retired for lunch a sa casa, but not before having to evict Kiku from his cool resting spot under the car . .

It was a beautiful hot day and we reviewed the morning's proceedings over a glass of vino in the living room . . .

Fell asleep into a deep siesta after lunch and were a few minutes late back to school only to find the TV crew had arrived!

There was a great deal of 'method acting' which you will be able to catch in November on ARTE channel, details to be provided nearer the time from our agent . . .

We had a laugh with the crew and were filmed in various stages of instruction and construction, some of it 'staged', but we were careful to be true to our art, and Eric performed his Hamlet . .

When the TV crew left, we sat down to some pick-up theory and nano-farads, capacitors, resistors, electro-magnetic effect etc . .

after a tiring day we retired for a stunning, Michelin recommended dining experience at Pinatar in Es Pujols, where the delights included Raos (only available for a short period in September) and Caldereta with lobster, Lubina and Dorada . .

Washed down with the greatest wines on offer including the stunning Monastrell (Mouvedre) of Formentera island itself!

Then back home to an 'unplugged' set with brandy at home . . .

Tomorrow we wait til the midnight oil!

Hasta!
