D-2 to Day Zero - Preparacion!

Hola!

It was 9 months ago when Eric suggested some kind of 'retreat' which i agreed to in a weak moment during a bottle of Brunello di Montalcino. I suspected he was referring to some 'new age' detoxification experience in an ashram, eating only vegetables, drinking only water and lemon juice, meditating, performing extreme yoga and being fully cleansed with warm coffee and vinegar colonic irrigations, three times a day.

I was pleasantly surprised when I learned that this was to be a reprise of our guitar building journey in 2010, much of which was recorded here.

On Friday my alarm woke me at 3.30am and I stumbled off to London's Gatwick airport and after the 'funbus' experience of the holiday Easyjet flight, I landed in Ibiza with 'The Beast' and made my way to to ferry to Formentera.

The Policia were out in force, but with the classic vigilance of Formentera . .

We arrived at 'Blog Central', Es Glop, run by Jaime, where all activities requiring wifi, including this blog, are undertaken. A little Friday 'trabajo' ensued as I tried to sort out some of those last minute work matters. . .

An excellent lunch on the beach at Cala Saona, Restaurante Sol took up the rest of the day. Fine wines were drunk and a great 'lubina a la sal' did the job . . .

Saturday was a lazy day which ended at the Fiesta in Sant Francesc, where the night was hosted by 'DJ Pharma' who was actually pretty good. Yes, you've guessed it, DJ Pharma runs the local drugstore in his spare time. Mucho Hierbas con Hielo was consumed . . .

Sunday was a lazy day playing a bit of guitar under the shade of the big tree. Cranked the amp up to 11, and we had a visit from a guy from Paris who was walking along the cliffs, and decided to work out what was going on. Apparently everone on Cala Saona beach had a pretty clear audio quality!

Today is our first 'School Day' at Formentera Guitars, so we will meet out fellow inmates and start the process. I will design and build something loosely based on a Fender Jaguar and Eric is doing a classic Precision Bass . . .

Hey ho, its off to work we go . . .

Hasta Manana!
