Day 8 - 'Tang-Nippers' Story

The weather has really settled into perfect Mediterranean late summer weather. Bright sunshine, 29-30 degrees every day, light breeze, warm evenings and bright starry nights . . .

As I write this I am remindedx that DJ Pharma is everywhere . . .

Arrived late yesterday morning after a heavy weekend and were chastised heavily as there is much anticipation of a TV crew coming next week and Eki wants to be ready to show off Formentera Guitars and the team at its best . . .

Luckily, we made rapid progress yesterday. My neck is looking pretty good . . .

We buffed and refined our necks, drilled and inserted shell dots for fretboard markings, and did some classroom fretboard and fret style theory . . .

The Precision Bass is starting to take shape too!

Serious fretwork ensued and was achieved without any serious mishpas (which is not always the case!) . .

Then we were introduced to the 'Tang Nipper', an unusual instrument which helps you cut the frets just right without causing lacerations to the players hands later. I thought 'Jimmy the Tang-Nipper' could become quite a good blues song. Some work to do there . . .

Starting to be recognisable . . .

At some point someone had got bored and attempted one of those 'Glam Rock' specials form the '70's and then promptly gave up, from what I can see . . .

Eric routed out his cavity, as is his wont . . .

For the uninitiated, 'routing' in the context of this blog refers to the woodworking task and is pronounced in the American way of 'route', not to be confused with 'English English' . . .

I have to prepare today to work out the design of controls and relation to scratchplate, as I will be doing some routing today also. Meanwhile, there is always some more smoothing of the body to do . . .

Hasta!
